CR2 THUMBNAILER WINDOWS 10
I've never had any issues with CR2 files, I have with CR3 files that were not supported on Windows 10 for my version, I ended up becoming a Microsoft insider which lets me preview and beta test the new OS's & updates before they are released. Re-installed Raw Image Extension, and no change, bug still persists. Uninstalled Raw Image Extension, restarted PC and (oddly) Windows could still decode the M100's CR2 files and the bug persisted.
CR2 THUMBNAILER INSTALL
The same is valid for other models/makes introduced in the "past".Īll what is needed is to install codecs from here:ĬR3 display in W Explorer is significantly delayed.

I think I may try updating the codec and see if that fixes the problem.Ĭanon's CR3 Format isn't supported by the standard W Explorer.

It would be interesting to see how the 5D4 files behave with a downloaded codec. Yes thanks, when I first got the M100 two or three years back the CR2 files didn't display, but was fixed by downloading a codec, but since around early May 2021 they've had this odd bug. Skankosis edited this topic 14 months ago. Windows (up to date) wants me to d/l codecs for those.ĮTA: the arrows are there on photos that show. I've also shots from a 5D2 and 5D4 both cf.Īll raw files show except the 5D4 which I've never noticed. I've shots from an old rebel and 60D both sd.
CR2 THUMBNAILER UPDATE
so my assumption is that since its recent update Windows is having some kind of problem rendering the local thumbnails at upload.Īny further insight from anyone much appreciated.Īmazingstoker edited this topic 14 months ago.įwiw: I don't really use explorer and tried in response to this thread. I believe there is a format difference between the M100 and 6D CR2 files.

CR2 files from the EOS 6D (Mk1) remain unaffected. So in summary: CR2 files from the EOS M100 SD are now affected after copying to the harddrive, where they weren't originally, and the original copies remain unaffected. I tried copying again some files from the SD from my EOS 6D to a new folder and they weren't affected. I looked at a folder of photos I'd copied from the SD card in May 2021, and they weren't affected by the bug, so I copied the May images from the SD card again to a new folder and they were now affected. so I investigated a bit further and the fault seems very specific. System updated today - I don't see any flaws, like you have reported. CR2 Viewer Download Free CR2 file viewer for Windows CR2 Viewer Download Windows Server 2003/2008, Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 Download CR2 Viewer by clicking on the link below, then run downloaded file to start install the package. It seems the updated Windows 'Photos' app does have the step to next image, but only if the folder is sorted by file type, and doesn't work if the folder is sorted by date. Since the last Windows 10 update (around 7 June 2021) file explorer has been very slow generating thumbnails in folders containing CR2 files and the 'Photos' app no longer has the 'right' and 'left' arrows to step through images.
